General

Q. Can we define different menu items for different users according to their different roles ?

A. Yes. Our menu navigation system can easily be configured to allow users to see different modules according to their group privileges. If a user doesn't need the access to the billing and payroll functions, those features can be deactivated easily using the "Access Control" function in the "SysAdmin" module.

Q. Are there any routine tasks that an administrator must continuously (i.e. weekly, monthly) undertake in order to maintain the product?

A. After the initial setup, an administrator only needs to add new users, define new groups, add new customers and create new charge codes when the need to arises. A periodical system back up and server tuning may be necessary as you would do for your other applications.

Q. Can the client feature be turned off?

A. Yes. You can disable or enable an employee to use certain features defined by her or his group privileges, or you can drop the user entirely.

Q. What is the licensing fee for more than 100 users ?

A. For the Purchase Plan, NetConsole/Timesheet costs $2,499.00 for the first 100 licensed users. For each additional license pack (50 users), the price is $300.00. So, if you have 150 users, your cost will be $2,799 ($2,499 + $300).

The optional C-Pack is now standard included in all the versions after v3.0. With the C-Pack, you can display your customized company logo, customized graphical buttons, etc.

Q. Is NetConsole Lite version also a web-enabled or must we aquire Full Product to have web features?

A. NetConsole/Timesheet is a totally web-based time tracking and billing system, for both Full Product and Lite version. You can choose to buy it and install on your own web servers (requires NT/Cold Fusion/SQL 7 or 2000), or you can choose to subscribe to our ASP services. The ASP service requires no server set-up on your side, the only required tool for your users is a web browser (IE or Netscape).

Q. What would be the delivery delay to our Belgian offices?

A. If you choose to purchase the product, the delivery of the product CD only takes 2-3 days for the FedEx service.

Q. Are the Client, Project, and Task codes hierarchical?

A. Yes, they are hierarchical. You create a Client, and within that Client, you create different Projects. For each Project, you can create as many Tasks as you want.

Q. What is the Billing/Payroll Module?

A. Billing/Payroll modules are basically for generating Timesheet reports. Billing reports give you detail information on Hours entered, Rates and Total Amount Charged regarding to Charge Codes, Projects, Time Periods, or Employees. Payroll reports give you the capability to analyze how profitable each employee is.

Q. What is the Expense Report Module?

A. Expense Report Module is used by employees to submit their Expense Reports on their reimbursement expenses, such as airline tickets, lodging costs, rental cars, tips, ...etc. Similar to Timesheet module, one can submit their Expense Requests to their supervisors to get approval, or ask for reimbursement.

Q. Is there any import utility that can be used to load the data (i.e. users, clients, projects, tasks) into NetConsole/Timesheet ? Can this be done on an ongoing basis (i.e. the beginning of a month) or is it only possible upon initial implementation?

A. We've developed an importing utility to import data for vast amount for Projects, Tasks, and Clients, and currently are working on the importing utility for Employees, Users and Groups. This importing utility will be commercially available to all customers in v4.0.

Q. Can NetConsole allow us to keep history for past employees ? Do they (past employees) consider as "system users" in counting the licensing seats ?

A. We count the user's licenses by the number of users who have an account (either active or inactive) in the system. Even if your employees left the company, their historical Timesheet data is still in the system for reviewing, reporting, accounting and auditing purposes. Techincally, you can always archive the database, and permanently drop these users along with their data from the system. However, if you do so, their historical data won't be "real-time" in the system, and would not be included in your reporting facility.

Q. How difficult is it to customize NetConsole Timesheet for my comapny?

A. NetConsole/Timesheet comes with many default customization options (the C-Pack option).
You can:
  • Replace the top banner image with your own company's logo
  • Change the background colors to match your Intranet Sites in Menu Bar, Main display areas and Left Frame windows.
  • Update the Display Test in the Main Display Areas when you click on the Modules
  • Use your own customized image buttons to replace the default menu buttons in Graphical mode
  • Update the default Email Messages when submitting, approving, or disapproving Timesheets
