Technical Support - FAQ's
|
- Q. Can I enter 0 hours in my Timesheets ?
A. Yes. You can enter 0 hours or just leave it blank if you have no
hours to report for your charge codes. NetConsole will automatically sum up
these hours vertically and horizontally in the spreadsheet-like entry form.
- Q. Can you tell me what rules are used for being or not being able to
remove and/or delete tasks from projects? Can the task be removed from the
project if no hours have been charged to it? And vice versa.
A. The task is allowed to be removed if no hours have been charged
to it. That is to say, if you had created a charge code (Project-Task) and no
one had entered any hours under that charge code, you can remove it. If the task
is being used (hours had been charged to it), then you will not be able to
remove it.
- Q. How do I apply the SSL security key onto the Product?
A. NetConsole sits on top of NT server and CF server, and thus,
you will apply SSL security key into NT, not into NetConsole/Timesheet.
After you install and set up a SSL security site, you can install
NetConsole/Timesheet onto this security site and take advantage of using
the SSL features for the product.
- Q. Is there a way to "Undo" an approved Timesheet that has been mistakenly
approved ?
A. Yes. In v3.0 and above, you are able to "Undo" an approved Timesheet.
In addition, all the Timesheet activity, including Submission, Approval,
Disapproval and Undo Approval are recorded in the Timesheet Audit Trail. You
can use the "TS Trail" under "SysAdmin" module to view the detail trails of a
Timesheet activity history.
- Q. Is there some sort of notification system, which lets the supervisor
know when a timesheet is ready to be approved or does the supervisor have
to constantly check for timesheets awaiting approval?
A. Yes. When users submit their Timesheets, they will have options to add
comments to their Timesheets as well as send out Email notices to their
supervisors. In v3.5 and up, you will find a new function under Payroll module
called "Not-Approved Reminder" which served as an Email Reminder to send out
reminders to selected supervisors who's subordinates submitted Timesheets
haven't been approved yet.
- Q. Is there a way to hide the "Charge Code" column in the Timesheet Entry Form ?
our users confused with these Charge Codes since they are intended mainly for
accounting purposes, not for end users.
A. Yes. In v3.0 and above, you can toggle between hiding or displaying the Charge
Code column in "Enter Timesheet", "Approve Timesheet", as well as in "Output
Timesheet" functions. To hide the Charge Code column, use the new "Parameter Manager" in SysAdmin module,
set the parameter "Display Charge Code" to "No" under Timesheet tab.
- Q. After installed NetConsole/Timesheet, I noticed that I wasn't able to send
out Email Notice while disapproving a TS. The error message showed "Error: All of
part of the path is invalid", and indicated that "C:\\Inetpub\wwwroot\NetCTS35w\temp\returnTSMail.cfm"
path is invalid. Could you advice ?
A. You need to double check and confirm if your NetConsole's Application Home
Directory is "C:\\Inetpub\wwwroot\NetCTS35w\" in "Parameter Manager". If you have changed
the original installation set up, you need to update it in "Parameter Manager" as well.
For example, if you moved the NetConsole folder from C drive to D drive,
then you will need to update this parameter
setup from C: to D: in "Parameter Manager".
- Q. Is there a way that users can create/use "Favorites" in order to
keep their project/task choices?
A. Yes. In Enter Timesheet function, you can select desired
Projects and Tasks (and thus Charge Codes) in your Timesheet Entry
Form and check the "Save as Default" box right under the Timesheet Form.
This will save the selected Timesheet as your default Timesheet for future use.
- Q. Do you have canned reports that show summaries, for example, Total
By Project for the Period?
A. Yes, we do have canned reports for summarized total by Clients,
Projects, Charge Codes, Groups, or Employees for any given Time Period. To
generate Total By Project report, for example, you can choose either one
of the following two ways:
Use Billing --> Browse, choose a Client, then under Summary Report by
Random Periods, enter the Begin Date and End Date, and then click on the
desired canned report. In this case, click on "By Project."
Use Billing --> Billing Analysis, choose Start Date and End Date for your
report periods. Highlight desired Clients, select "All" Projects, or
desired Projects, select All Groups, All Users, and then select reporting
columns. (e.g. Projects, or Client By Project). Choose one of the desired
report formats (Tabulate, List, Tree, Matrix, Bar Charts, or Text Outputs)
in the right-bottom frame.
